
The selection process for the program "Traineeship for Public Servants in Poland"( co-financed by the Polish aid program 2009 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland) announced the Center for Effective Governance System and Territorial Arrangement Reform (CEGSTAR) is completed.
An initiative started on May 26, 2006, in Romanian city Constanta was recently inspirited - on September 26, in Varna (Bulgaria), on a special conference of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, where "Black Sea Euro-Region” was officially established.
Expert meeting was held in the framework of E-PINE on October 1-2, 2008 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The event was dedicated to the world status after the August developments and particular aspects of this issue
In accordance with the order of the President of Georgia the Center for Effective Governance System and Territorial Arrangment Reform was founded about one year ago. It was the political will of the Georgian Goverrnment to carry out radical reforms on development of local democracy and decentralization process, exercising of real self –governance. With this purpose the State Commission for Effective Governance System and Territorial Arrangment Reform was founded to conduct these reforms. As for the Center, its main purpose is the planning of self-governance reform, the formation of legislative basis and organizational provision of the reform.
The delegation of Lithuania has arranged three day working visit in Centre for Effective Governance and Territorial Arrangement Reform.
The representatives of Task Force Secretariat and the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure have arranged the study tour in Poland.
On 8-12th of June, based on the invitation form Public Policy and Management Institute (Lithuania), three secretaries of Task Force for Regional Development in Georgia and the Director of the Centre for Effective Governance and Territorial Arrangement Reform have visited Lithuania. The purpose of the working visit was to get the support from Lithuanian side while elaborating the Strategy for Regional Development in Georgia and share the experience of the host country in this direction
The Task Force for Regional Development in Georgia has finished the first stage of work and has approved the draft Diagnostic Report on Regional Development in Georgia at the Task Force meeting held on 6th of June at Sheraton Metechi Palace hotel.
Task Force for Regional Development in Georgia will hold the second working meeting on 6th of June 2009, 12:30pm at Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and approve the Draft Diagnostic Report of Regional Development in Georgia.
On 16–20 of March the secretariat of the Task Force has presented Draft Diagnostic Report to the Ministries of Regional Development and Infrastructure; Finance; Economic Development; Labor, Health and Social Affairs; Agriculture; Foreign Affairs; Environment Protection and Natural Resources and Justice.
The main goal of GTZ (German Technical Collaboration Society) organized seminar "Collaboration of the Communities” in Armenian town Dilijhan was development of local self governance and exchange experience on the matter. The representative of Georgian and Armenian local self governing bodies, non governmental organizations and German experts took part in this seminar.
The foundation of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure is the legislative initiative of the Georgian government .Due to the fact some alterations in "The Georgian Law of Government Structure” should take place. Those changes will be discussed at the Georgian Parliament.
