Study tour in Poland

The repre-sentatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and the Centre for Effective Governance System and Territorial Arrangement Reform (CEGSTAR) visited Poland for the study tour.

The main goal of GTZ (German Technical Collaboration Society) organized seminar "Collaboration of the Communities” in Armenian town Dilijhan was development of local self governance and exchange experience on the matter. The representative of Georgian and Armenian local self governing bodies, non governmental organizations and German experts took part in this seminar.

The head of GTZ local self governance development project in South Caucasus Aksel Mayer informed the participants of two day seminar on the working plan of the seminar- cooperation between Georgian and Armenian municipalities, planning and  implementation of practical issues.

The main part of the seminar was dedicated to the practical issues. Two Georgian and Armenian working groups were formed which had to solve the same problem separately and then present the result to the seminar participants. The task was to work out the forms and details of  economical cooperation between two bordering Armenian and Georgian municipalities taking into consideration the market demands and to fulfill the population’s desire of economical collaboration. The working groups have found the mutual field of interests. Armenians can export special kind of grapes that grow only in Armenia, as for Georgians they can export apples to Armenia. The working groups presented economical  validity and mutual  profit of the project. The experts had to estimate correctness of the project planning according to the existing legislation.

The final estimation was made by seminal speaker Aksel Mayer. He positively estimated the activities of both working groups and stressed the possibility of realization of the economical project in future.

The guest of the seminar informed the participants of the seminar on his experience while being the mayor, especially on close cooperation with the population, their participation in the activities of local self governing units and local government relations with media. He positively estimated activities of the working groups as well.

That king of working meeting was held by German Technical Collaboration Society –GTZ for the third time and the organizers are looking forward to for future working meetings both in Armenia and Georgia.
